┬┐Who is a Chaplain?

A chaplain is a minister, representative of a religious tradition, who dedicates his ministry to the service of secular institutions, such as hospitals, prisons, military or police units, universities and other public and private institutions. Although originally the word "chaplain" referred to representatives of the Christian faith, other philosophical religions and traditions also apply today, as in the case of humanist chaplains serving in the military forces in some countries.

In 2003, Bishop Dr. Enrique Hernandez, attending his ministerial vocation, founded the Spanish American International Chaplain Association of Florida - SAICAF, a non-profit organization established as a means to support those in need during difficult times. His passion for teaching men and women in the pastoral field and professional advice leads the Association to establish the Interamerican Chaplain Institute - ICI of which he is Rector.
